Dzu-U Hydro Electric (HE) Project

The Dzu-U Hydro Electric (HE) Project is planned on the Dzu-U River in Kohima district, Nagaland. The dam site is located near Botsa town, with nearby villages including Chedma and Botsa. A 24-meter high dam will be built, and a power station will be located at the base of the dam (dam toe powerhouse). The project is designed to use the river’s flow to generate electricity.

The proposed installed capacity is 2 units of 3 MW each. The project is expected to generate 21.3 million units (Mu) of electricity annually, with a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 40.14%. Each turbine will operate with Net head of 21.0 meters, Discharge of 16.21 cumec/ unit.

The Government of Nagaland has assigned the project to Maruti Engineering Services, which has hired Bangalore Hydro Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (BHEC) to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
