Shanthamallikarjuna MHS is envisaged across river Kumaradhara near village Kumaralli in Somawarpet Taluk of Kodagu District, State of Karnataka. The powerhouse is located on the left bank of the river.

The project proposes utilizing the flows in river Kumaradhara in its upper reaches utilizing the rapids and falls along its course.

M/s. Bangalore Hydro Engineers and Consultants Pvt. Ltd., engaged by the company for the preparation of the DPR. The proposed Hydroelectric power plant will have an installed capacity of 10 MW, comprising two units of 5 MW each. The plant is designed to operate under a rated net head of 99.53 m with a rated discharge of 5.86 m³/s per unit. Each unit will be equipped with a horizontal-axis Francis turbine directly coupled to a synchronous generator of 5882 kVA capacity, generating at 6.6 kV and 50 Hz.
