Sonna Mini Hydel Scheme is at Afzalpur Taluk of Kalburgi District in Karnataka. Greenko has established a 10.5MW (3×3.5MW) small hydro project with a net head of 10.77 m & design discharge of 112.42cumec to utilise the water discharges from Sonna Barrage on Bhima River to generate electrical power for supply to the Karnataka State grid. The project will generate an average annual energy of 27.64 GWh.

BHEC was entrusted by Greenko to take up the designs related to Repairs & Rehabilitation (R&R) after a flood caused some damages to the downstream wall, column & beams by way of cracks in plaster & excessive deflection. During this flood the downstream wall of the PH completely yielded and collapsed. BHEC has delivered the detailed design, analysis & preparation of construction drawings for R&R works.
