Shri Aarudhajyothi LIS is intended to provide irrigation facilities to the suffering command area falling under Harugeri Distributary (DY) and Yabratti Distributary-2 both these canals take off from Chikkud Branch Canal of GLBC. The project is being implemented by KNNL, one of the several state irrigation companies.

Due to aging of the infrastructure, the tail end distributaries are not getting required discharges, and those parts of the command area is reported to be perpetually suffering. The contemplated annual utilization for the project is 0.415tmc (discharge of , the total ICA is 1744Ha.

BHEC has prepared the DPR and detailed estimates for this project.
