The project lifts water from Ghataprabha River near its confluence with Hiranyakeshi River to fill five Bridge cum Barrages (BCBs) including Yarnal and others up to Gotur across the Hiranyakeshi River. It aims to fill these BCBs during the non-monsoon period and provide irrigation to a command area of 1,039.28Ha (ICA) for Kharif crops.

The scheme utilizes 144Mcft for non-monsoon barrage filling and 79Mcft for irrigation during monsoon, with a peak water requirement of 178Mcft.

With a total pump capacity of 1,380hp the project delivers 0.580cumec (50MLD) at a pumping head of 87.79m, supporting irrigation to 531.40Ha along with barrage filling.
