Godachinamalki LIS (GLIS) is envisaged to lift water in two stages first one lifting water from Ghataprabha river u/s of the Gokak Falls and the second stage lifting water from Markandeya River d/s of its confluence with Bellary Nala. The project beneficiary is Gokak Taluk of Belgaum district.
The contemplated utilization for the project is around 0.47tmc to irrigate the command area falling in villages within Gokak Taluk, the peak discharge is 1.9cumec (164MLD).
The water from the first lift water will be led through MS rising mains (RM) to a DC and also several feeders taking off from RM. The lifting point will employ a short approach canal, intake, pump house and delivery manifold.
The second stage lifts water from Markandeya River involves an elaborate scheme with the several interconnected delivery cisterns, feeder canals and pipelines. The total ICA is 2570 Ha.
BHEC has delivered complete designs and several parts of the projects have been commissioned and working as designed providing much needed relief to farmers.
