Kushtagi LIS and drinking water project lifts water from the foreshore of Narayanapur Reservoir (Basavasagara Reservoir) to fill 15 tanks in Kushtagi Taluk, Koppala District. The project aims to rejuvenate groundwater by filling key MI tanks that rarely fill during monsoon. Some tanks, including Nidaseshi/Kushtagi, also serve as drinking water sources. Design discharge of the project is 2.3 cumec.

The Minor Irrigation Department Karnataka, along with contractor Indian Hume Pipe Co. Ltd., (a Walchand Hirachand Group Company) engaged Bangalore Hydro Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (BHEC) for comprehensive planning and civil design services including surge analysis. It is nearing completion.
