The KUWSD Board proposed a vented barrage across the Gangavali River near Honnalli village to meet the drinking and bulk water needs of Karwar, Ankola, nearby villages, Sea-Bird, and Aditya Birla Chemicals Ltd. for the next 50 years. The project aims to store 0.386 TMC of water causing minimal submergence. The GAD was submitted by M/s Sri Swami Samarth Engineers and proof-checked by M/s BHEC. Further engineering, stability analysis, and construction drawings were prepared by M/s BHEC.
